GA Teachers Weekend at Blencathra - March 2022

This has been organised by the GA's Post 16/HE Phase Committee.


Details of the weekend below:
Pre-fieldwork interactive work will prepare for 1½ days in the field and follow-up activities. Teachers will gain a range of skills to use with students when teaching glaciation as well as explore the fieldwork skills students could use to collect primary data for an NEA.

We will also examine how recent climate events are impacting the landscape including the following:
  • Flooding
  • Slope instability,
  • Destabilising glacial sediments
  • Affecting infrastructure
Embedded throughout the course will be opportunities for teachers to improve their skills, this will cover:
  • Google images
  • GIS
  • Storymaps
  • Statistics
This weekend is organised by the FSC in conjunction with GA Post 16/HE Phase Committee.

It will be led by experienced FSC tutors, plus Dr Richard Waller (University of Keele) and Dr Servel Miller (University of Chester).
