Many retail premises and restaurants have had to find new ways of working during and 'since' the pandemic. For many food providers such as restaurants and cafes this has meant home delivery, via one of the big providers: Just Eat, Deliveroo etc., or an in house solution. This is often known as the 'last mile' solution - how to move the product to the customer's home. It helps if they live close by of course, and some restaurants will only deliver to a very local area, close to their premises. There are practical reasons for this too of course in terms of the temperature of the food when it arrives.
A few weeks ago I visited my parents who live in York - just to the north of the city centre. This means that they live within the delivery area of an award winning fish and chip shop called Millers. One of the awards they have won is Fish and Chip shop of the year.
They used this technology to continue operating during the lockdown, but have kept it up through the year as well for those who feel less comfortable queuing in a busy shop.
A useful NEA topic would be to explore how the pandemic has changed local businesses' ways of working.
If you find yourself in York, head to Millers and ask for the extra-crispy cod or haddock.
