The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.
The GA Conference is a time when people from different spheres meet and collaborate. This session is one of those which will hopefully draw a diverse audience and trigger conversations.
Intersectionality is a term that is very often used in academic geography to reflect on the way that different elements of the discipline, and different disciplines can blend together.
Drawing on our forthcoming book, in this session we critically examine how rethinking the intersections between children, education and geography can help develop a progressive geographical education. In particular, we will consider how knowledge about children’s geographies, and geographies of education and educational spaces, can support teachers of geography in making informed decisions about curriculum, pedagogy and purpose in their practice.
