GAConf22: I'm looking through you - Geographies of Glass, an everyday substance - #29 of many

The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.

When I came up with my conference theme, I was anticipating a few more sessions like this one: an exploration of the geographical stories behind everyday objects. This tied in with some of the influences of my theme including Ian Cook's work.

2022 is the UN International Year of Glass. (You knew that of course :)

Glass is an everyday substance that we tend to overlook, or look through, without fully appreciating its importance. With help from GIS, this session will reflect on geographical aspects of glass, including the spatial development and distribution of the glass industry, its role in connectivity, sustainable energy, economic sectors, resource management and cultural geography.
