GAConf22: They arrive to school each day, but from where? - #19 of many

The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.

This session will explore the everyday experiences of our students in our community.

I created this globe three years ago to show all the countries from which our school community is drawn.

Made with Flourish

Andy says that:

Our vocation is to communicate on a daily basis with a legion of young and inquiring minds, all of whom have their own unique journey of exposure to everyday geographies.

This session aims to explore student profiles (using case studies from the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Northern Ireland) and discuss the potential barriers and opportunities to learning geography.

There are connections here with a piece of research by Dr. Lauren Hammond, which developed from her PhD research on children's geographies. More on that here.
