GAConf22: Everyday solutions for teaching tricky topics - #76 of many

The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.

I'm always pleased to see sessions by the GA's Secondary Phase Committee. I was involved in a great many Conference presentations with colleagues from the SPC, going back to my first ever conference presentation - back in 2005, where I used this classic clip...

Teaching a tricky concept like globalisation, development, distribution, river sediment transportation, place, colonialism or sustainability for the first time, or have you taught the same challenging geographical issue over and over and would like some inspiration to teach it more creatively or in a way students may better understand it?

The GA’s SPC will offer some reflections from their own practice of the challenging topics they have taught.

Gary Dawson, Head of Geography, Coppice performing Arts School Wolverhampton (GA Secondary Phase Committee) - and other members of SPC.

Workshop

KS3-P16

I presented a related session years ago with Tom Biebrach and Fred Martin from the SPC on tricky topics. This is something which is always of interest to teachers.
