GAConf22: Creating video games to teach hazards - #130 of many

The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.

My particular thanks to Ed McGowan for stepping in a a presenter. The original presenter of this session was Jaz Scarlett, but she had the opportunity to take part in a new project which had to take priority of course.

Creating video games to teach hazards

The session will provide a broad and general overview of using popular videogames as an educational tool. The talk will include short video clips of various games looking at landscapes, urbanisation, real- world cities and maps.
There will be suggested ideas of how to use videogames in the classroom, for example demonstrated playthroughs, homework and group assignments.
