National Fieldwork Week Ideas #4: Open Farm Sunday

Throughout May I shall share ideas for National Fieldwork Week - one per day...

Find out more about National Fieldwork Week here.

The final day of the National Fieldwork - the 12th of June coincides with Open Farm Sunday.

Check the website to see what farms local to you may be open.

You can also take part in a virtual farm visit.

With food prices rises, and food security and related issues very important, this is perhaps a time for young people to visit a farm to see how their food is produced. The Sunday date is not ideal for taking students personally, but they could be encouraged to visit with their families with some sort of photographic proof (perhaps a shelfie - a selfie with a sheep) leading to some merit points.

Do a search to see what comes up where you live.

Close to Ely, I would have the option to visit G's Fresh, which takes part in the scheme.

G's Fresh grow Fenland Celery and supply a range of supermarkets with their produce as well as provide local employment opportunities.

If you do use this, or any other of the ideas I share, please let us know about what you do. We will be asking people to share their outcomes in various ways. Remember that the theme is CHANGE.
