Restarting the Fieldnotes from Iceland blog

In January 2020, I started a blog for the year - posting once a day on the topic of Iceland: landscape, language, literature, mythology, history, culture and much more.

This was in advance of me starting to work with school groups in Iceland with Rayburn Tours. There were actually quite a lot of posts linked to those who go on school trips to Iceland with the various providers who operate within the country and support UK schools to make the trip there.

Unfortunately those plans to work with a degree of regularity were put on hold due to the cancellation of all travel from March 2020.

After two years, overseas travel is now starting up again, although there are currently a few issues with delays at some airports due to a surge in demand coupled with staff shortages. There have been quite a few changes within Iceland too, with new infrastructure, new charges for things that may once have been free, changes to coach parking and toilet facilities and also the nature of tourism itself.

I'm heading back to Iceland later in the year, so have restarted the Iceland blog again.

There won't be a post a day, but I'll be sharing updates on places which UK schools will be visiting on their return. I'll also share a deal of information and images when I next visit Iceland.

Be sure to catch up with Rayburn's new booklet as well: 'Explore Geography'.
