This is his final collection of essays published posthumously (he died in December 2020).
In her introduction to the book, Rebecca Solnit talks about some phrases that Lopez used a lot, particularly with regards to indigenous people. He referred to the importance of paying ATTENTION.
This was very often about looking 'around' the actions that someone not schooled in the ways of indigenous people would not notice.
"Perhaps the first rule of everything we endeavour to do is to pay attention. Perhaps the second is to be patient. And perhaps a third is to be attentive to what the body knows".
Also remember to check in for the next GeogLive! event in 10 days time which will look back at some of the work which will be shared over the next week (and beyond)
