Change on the Southbank

Regular followers of my social media will know that I'm a big fan of Van der Valk - the original series not the remake.

The episode was a rare one which was not set in Amsterdam, and features Van der Valk and his wife visiting London.

Towards the end of the episode, there was a scene where Van der Valk was dropped off on the South Bank of the River Thames. I was trying to work out where the scene was and took this picture. I later realised that this is in front of the Festival Hall, where there obviously was a road during the early 1980s (ish) when this episode was filmed rather than the pedestrian area there now, plus steps up to the upper floor. Was interesting to see such a familiar location looking very different.
