Football for Future: climate and balls

Football for Future is recruiting athletes to be Climate Change Champions.

This article explains more.

“The climate crisis is now and it’s not something we can avoid. If football is going to have a future, the sport needs to use its relations with the world’s biggest brands and companies to ensure they do their part.
Sponsors have a responsibility to educate their athletes on the interrelationship between football and climate change - and Nike partnering with Football For Future to produce this handbook is a step in the right direction."

It occurs to me that there are many other sports that have an impact on the climate, particularly motorsport. An area to explore further perhaps.

Also, are footballers the best role models here? Some of them engage in fairly unsavoury behaviour.

And another element was added with this BBC article on the environmental impact of balls.
Producing balls has an environmental cost and they also cause problems when discarded or lost.

This video takes a particular look at tennis balls.

What about the balls at Wimbledon?
