Geography and earnings

Rishi Sunak, as part of his campaign to become the next (unelected) Prime Minister has been talking about all the things he's going to do, most of which will never happen of course, and saying things he thinks will go down well with Conservative Party members.

One of them is to do with education, with a suggestion that he will end low-earning degrees (whatever they are).

The fun part is that the average person who completes a geography degree may well earn less than whatever threshold is introduced for earnings, and yet the world needs more people who can think geographically than ever with the crises we face. The thought that only degrees that lead to high earning careers are valuable is also patent nonsense.

Don't tell the Education Secretary either.

After being privately educated, he went on to gain a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from the Polytechnic of West London.
