The 8 billionth person

For previous milestones of population, such as 6 billion and 7 billion a baby born on the nominated day was also identified as the nominal 'billionth' baby from all those born on that day around the world.

This BBC News article talks about the previous people, and follows up to see how their lives have turned out so far.

This also describes the world they will be born into.

The identity of the 8 billionth person is not so clear.

This article suggests it is somebody called Damian born in the Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia maternity hospital in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

This one suggests that is a baby called Vinice Mabansag, who was born at Dr Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Manila at 1:29 am (local time). Her birth was celebrated by the Philippines' Commission on Population and Development, which posted photos pf the baby girl and her mother on Facebook.
