Route 66 is a well known road in the USA, which runs from Chicago to California. The road inspired the decline of Radiator Springs in the Pixar film 'Cars'.
The economy along Route 66 largely depends on tourism, & that tourism relies on a fascination w/the "cowboys & Indians" narrative.
