For some years now Alan Arnette has been working out the cost of climbing Mount Everest.
This has risen in price since he first started, and reflects the increasing dangers of the trip. The 'industry' around this endeavour is an important source of income for the economy of the country, and particular the Sherpa.
I have blogged numerous times previously about work we do in this area with students to consider whether climbing should be limited, or even stopped, because of the environmental impact on the mountain, which is the final resting place of many, and also holds a special place in the hearts and minds of local people.
