Jamaica moving towards becoming a republic

I've been teaching the Benjamin Zephaniah book 'Windrush Child' again with students in my school, and it's once again had a very good reaction and opened up some interesting discussions.

One focus is the history of Jamaica and the changing role of the British. 

Jamaica is now moving towards becoming a republic, as Barbados did in 2021. Barbados remains in the Commonwealth.

Malcolm Holness is the Prime Minister of the country, although this report suggests that the plans have been halted for a while.

We will keep an eye on this as we put the books away again after another successful run through of the unit.
