Yesterday was the first day of meteorological Spring.

This is a map that was released by the Met Office.

It shows just how little rainfall we have had in February, which is not good news for groundwater, as the rain that falls at this time of year is less likely to evaporate and therefore infiltrate down into the soil and phreatic zone (the old 'A' level hydrological cycle work is still in there somewhere)... Difficult times for farmers.
