A visit from Alice

Year 8 were visited by Alice Oates a couple of weeks before Christmas 2022.

She is a PhD candidate working with the Geography department of the University of Cambridge and the Scott Polar Research Institute.

She spoke to the students about her research into the heroic age and the things that explorers needed to have in order to cope with the conditions in Antarctica: mental and physical attributes, as well as connections in some cases.

It was a lovely way to spend the first part of the morning and Year 8 appreciated working with her.
