A safe space for Canadian homes

An interesting story
that came up on the news feeds when I was doing a bit of research on the current wildfires spreading across Canada consuming thousands of hectares of forest.

It suggests that all new homes in British Columbia will be required to have at least one temperature controlled room, to reduce the chance of heat stress which leads to many excess deaths, particularly among the elderly.

The government is proposing that all new homes have a minimum of one living space that is designed not to exceed a temperature of 26 C, through either passive cooling measures, such as shading, or a cooling appliance.

This could also include blinds on windows which particularly face the sun.
