The GA Branch in Manchester is one of the most siginficant of all the GA Branches, and has been going for over 100 years. Their programme is always full of interesting events. One of their lectures each year is the Herbertson Memorial Lecture, named after the legenday GA stalwart Andrew John Herbertson.
I was honoured to give the Herbertson Memorial Lecture in 2008 to over 150 students - some of whom arrived in coaches. This was just over a month into my new job at the GA and quite nerve wracking.
They also have an H J Fleure Memorial Lecture - Fleure was based at Manchester University for some time.
Thanks to all involved in keeping the GA Branch so active. More details on their Facebook page.
