Regular readers of LivingGeography will know that I think the Tour de France is the greatest of all sporting events, and several weeks of my summer is spent sat watching every stage from start to finish. This has also been enriched in recent times by the appearance of the Geology of the Tour de France social media feeds which help explain and interpret the ever-changing landscapes through which the riders pass.
Next year's race will have to change its traditional ending due to the 2024 Olympics being held in Paris. The organisers have gone for a Grand Départ from Florence, and a finale in Nice... which is nice...
