Dunes

This piece by David Thomas of the University of Oxford is excellent reading.

He starts by mentioning the Dune movies and moves on to an excellent look at how the sand we see is just the top layer of an ancient layer of sand which has many stories to tell. Another reminder that deserts are far from empty.
