A new opportunity has been developed by the GA.
The Scholar programme is an eight week online course. It is led by Becky Kitchen and the course fee includes a whole range of additional benefits including GA membership and delegate fees for the 2025 GA Conference at Oxford Brookes University.
This eight-week online course is designed for geography trainees who haven’t previously studied a geography (or a similar) degree.
It will develop your geographical subject knowledge and give you three years membership of the Geographical Association.
Dr Becky Kitchen, our expert tutor, will guide and support you through the course materials – which have been designed in partnership with experienced teacher trainers.
- We will provide you with free places on our KS3, KS4 and KS5 subject knowledge and fieldwork courses, and a free place for the GA’s three-day Annual Conference in 2025.
- We will send you over £250 worth of our best-selling resources including the Handbook of Secondary Geography, Geography Through Enquiry (2nd edn) and the Top Spec Geography series.
- When you’ve completed the scholarship programme you will receive a written report and certificate.
*The programme is aimed at those who would like to embark on a geography PGCE (or similar) but who do not have a first degree in the subject.
