Worldly Wednesday #11: 13.11.24

Another Wednesday means it's time for another Worldly Wednesday.

I didn't have anywhere to head off to today so it was a day at home for a change.

This is taking place at St. Mary's University in Twickenham in south London.
Details of the event are on a recent blog post, or by following the link here.

The GTE Conference is being held from the afternoon of Friday 24th - Sunday 26th Jan at lunchtime. This is an in-person conference, so provides the opportunity for attendees to network and discuss ideas but does not include accommodation.

The aim is to share best practice ideas and current research being done in geography education including masters level and other initiatives and project work, relevant to training geography teachers. We particularly welcome presentations from those new to their roles as geography educators, whilst also encouraging attendees keen to network and share ideas informally to attend.

My session will be based around some news from last night about the Booker Prize. You will see on another blog post that Samantha Harvey's book 'Orbital' was successful. I have a copy on Audible as well as a printed copy. I have submitted a session exploring how the book can be used to connect with the descriptions of the Earth from above.

Next up was to complete a 1st and 2nd draft of two chapters for one of my writing projects, and continue to make progress on the 3rd draft of a third one.

There was also a Zoom call in there and some emails related to a European project connected with AI and the ethics of using it in the geography classroom. More to come on that as the project progresses.
