Description from the publisher/author:
This book sets out to explore the different scales of geographical identity that we can hold. How important is your neighbourhood to you?
Can I ever consider myself 'from' Sheffield given I was born and raised in Bedfordshire? Are you English, Welsh, Scottish Irish or British? What does it mean to think of yourself as European or African?
Can anybody actually be a citizen of the world? These are some of the questions posed by geographer and author Carl Lee across 35 short stories that are geography or earth writing.
Here's a review from Kate Stockings on her website.
I enjoyed reading this book and it was a short and snappy read, with each chapter reflecting on aspects of place, identity and migration. They refer to places I know well in and around Sheffield and further afield and I could 'hear' Carl when I read his books. He ranges far and wide in his stories, drawing in connections from local to global. There were a few nice contexts which would also reward further research to flesh out potentially.
Copies can be purchased from the publisher, which is based in Sheffield and a few online spaces.
