Welcome to the 13th of my Thoughtful Thursdays - and the last one before Christmas as it's the last week of term.
What was I thinking about today?
I started with a few hours of thinking as I joined a GlosGeog CPD event which had been organised by Emma Espley, with Dr. Becky Kitchen speaking.
She led the participants through:
- the changes to the new Ofsted Inspection Framework
- the progress so far on the Curriculum and Assessment Review
There were some good discussion points on the opportunities and challenges posed by the CAR.
A very helpful event, to help departments set out a road map for the possible changes ahead...
I also had an email about a very exciting looking event which is being organised by the Prince's Teaching Institute along with the Royal Geographical Society and the Geographical Association.
After a break to catch up with some previous Gone Fishing Christmas specials, it was a meeting about a book that I am co-editing.
I think this will be of value to those departments facing a fresh look at their curriculum in 2026.
More details once the publishers have it listed on their website.
I finished by heading over to a nearby village for a drink with former colleagues and to reminisce about teaching in decades gone by...
