New White Paper

This document came out earlier (PDF download).

Here's the accompanying speech.

There have been various summaries of the document released today.

There was plenty to say about SEND - a lot of people will be watching these very closely.

As before, there are references to curriculum:

Every child will benefit from a refreshed and broad National Curriculum that secures knowledge and delivers key skills, alongside a wide range of enriching opportunities within and beyond the curriculum, delivered through a new enrichment entitlement.

Each school's curriculum must be rich in knowledge, broad in scope, inclusive and innovative and future-focused. The plan is to: create a world-leading curriculum that raises standards and aspirations for all children. We also committed to develop evidence-led resources to support curriculum adaptation for all children and young people, including those with SEND.

Also a link with AI:

Realising the opportunities from data, AI and technology with safe tools that boost teaching and learning, underpinned by an extensive evidence programme and linked closely to curriculum delivery.

For KS3

Every secondary school needs to give sufficient priority to organising and strengthening Key Stage 3. This includes ensuring that children in Key Stage 3 benefit from the full three years of the key stage. The Alliance will build on excellent sector-led models to support innovation and spread best practice across the country. This will support schools to access and develop excellence in Key Stage 3, spotlighting and collaborating on key issues including the critical transition from primary, teaching and curriculum, attendance, and strengthening data at Key Stage 3.

One person who shared their opinion was Mark Enser, who shared his thoughts on her Substack.

Schools Week also explored this, as did the BBC.

He talks about the importance of coherence amongst other things.
