Training to be a teacher is a significant step to take for anyone.

For some years, the DfE has made bursaries available to those who take the step to start a PGCE.

Last year, there was a substantial cut to the bursary for geography, despite some high-level political pledges to recruit and train thousands of new teachers and a shortage of teachers.
