Congratulations to my RGS colleague Dr. Catherine Souch on being awarded the the RSGS Tivy Education Medal in recognition of her exceptional contributions to geography education at all levels. It is very well deserved!
Dr Souch is Head of Research and Higher Education at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), and for nearly two decades she has championed the development of higher education geography in the UK - ensuring it remains relevant and future-focused.
What stands out about Dr Souch’s work is its practical and far-reaching impact - building systems, resources, and opportunities that genuinely benefit students, teachers, and schools across the country.
I remember when I received the letter telling me I was going to be awarded the medal in 2013. It's always good to have something unexpected like this... my medal sits next to my desk.
