The fifth National Fieldwork Festival is back for a fifth year this summer.
The National Festival of Fieldwork is celebrating its fifth year in 2026. Fieldwork as we all know, has suffered in the past from a lack of recognition as an important part of geography and is often seen as an add on or luxury when teaching geography or allied subjects. Although the majority of the work will be in June, schools can carry out their fieldwork at any time in the summer term to suit them. Ofsted has identified fieldwork as an area for support and development and so the GA is committed to encouraging participation by young people in all types of fieldwork whenever possible.
The aims of the project remain unchanged:
- To encourage teachers and schools to return to organising fieldwork visits again after the various limitations which severely reduced activities out of school.
- To make teachers not already member of the GA, aware of the organisation and encourage them to visit the main GA website.
- To celebrate fieldwork in a range of contexts and locations.
Please visit the Fieldwork Festival webpages where you will find out much more about the project and start planning your own fieldwork.
