Norway with Rayburn Tours - an alternative to Iceland?

I'm heading to Iceland this weekend - weather permitting (it's been a bit gnarly the last few days) to travel with a school on behalf of Rayburn Tours.

Rayburn Tours have been introducing trips to Norway - which could work as an alternative to Iceland for those who want something different, and also want to experience some similarly dramatic landscapes.

The sample itineraries here look excellent.

The tours are based in an area of western Norway around Bergen which I've explored, and remember distinctly my first visit to some of the waterfalls and fjords that are mentioned. They represent a slight change from the more familiar Icelandic routes, but that could be quite refreshing.

Several of the students I teach have Norwegian connections and share my love of the country.

I first visited in 1984 - I don't have too many pictures from that time, but here's one up at the Folgefonna glacier. I had hitch-hiked there with a friend Conor Kostick (now a famous author and historian)

Oh, and Rayburn Tours were also the winners of the Best School Tour Operator (Large) at the School Travel Awards 2025.
