Thoughtful Thursdays #24: Panel meeting

Welcome to the 24th of my Thoughtful Thursdays.

What was I thinking about today?

I was thinking about Iceland first of all, as I was following the latest winter storm which has been disrupting trips - and following the news on the WhatsApp group we have as Rayburn Tours field tutors. This allows us to share news and updates when we are out in the field and carrying out some dynamic risk assessments. Various places are closed today, roads are also closed until the early afternoon and flights are delayed at various airports heading for Iceland.

Fingers crossed that the conditions improve for Sunday - they are supposed to...

I was also packing my case this morning and ensuring I had all the vouchers for the various excursions that had been booked.

In the afternoon, I was thinking about Assessment and where it sits in the CAR (Curriculum and Assessment Review) as I was attending an advisory panel meeting for one of the Awarding bodies. With the CAR proceeding and everyone waiting for the next update it will be interesting to see what happens next. We are promised something to consult on "in the Spring". Lots of interesting conversations and points made.

I then went out for a drink with former colleagues from a school I taught at for 20 years, but left 18 years ago... and we put the world to rights as usual....

This is the last Thoughtful Thursday for a month as I'm on holiday for the next three Thursdays.
The Substack Newsletters will continue as usual, so subscribe in order to avoid missing out on something.
