Russel Tarr is a genius coder and ideas creator who produced the Active History website.
In the EMO-GI project we are going to be producing an AI assistant to help identify appropriate and accurate resources to help with exploring climate change.
Russ has created an interesting question generator.
As Russ said when he launched it:
The generator produces:
• focused historical research questions
• historiographical context
• possible historical perspectives and debates
It’s primarily aimed at inquiry-based coursework such as:
• IBDP History IAs and Extended Essays
• A-Level NEAs
• other independent historical investigations
One thing I was particularly conscious of was academic integrity. The tool is deliberately designed to support brainstorming and independent inquiry rather than replace genuine historical research. Students still need to refine questions, verify sources, and construct their own interpretations and arguments.
It's interesting to see how quickly AI tools are evolving from simple “content generators” into genuinely useful research-support tools for education...!
What other similar tools are you aware of for other subjects perhaps?
