I was sent details of a new resource developed by Simon Ross and others, which is now open for testing. If you want to help out there’s a chance to get free access until Christmas. It’s called CheckIt Geography.

Details from Simon.
The aim of the site is to support students (and teachers) with geography-specific terminology . . . the ‘language of geography’.
Whilst teaching and running CPD courses, it became clear to me that the understanding and confident use of appropriate terminology was critical if students were to access the higher levels in exams. Simply ‘Googling It’ runs the risk of generating too much information, sometimes expressed inappropriately (at too high a level) and with the risk of inaccuracy. Google results are not curated. AI overviews are also used by students.
‘Checkit’ comprises almost 1000 key geography terms drawn from the main GCSE specifications and it is specifically aimed to support students at KS3 and GCSE. Each term has a simple definition and then a number of extensions, including higher-level context, examples and misunderstandings. Almost all terms have photos to help visual learners and there is audio support too. There are randomised Flashcards to enable students to interact with the terms and reinforce their learning.
Coasts is free to access currently. A small subscription will be payable to access the full site. All words have been checked with a number of relevant organisations.
