Chester Zoo is leading a campaign to change the symbols that are used in weather forecasts when the weather is changeable (which is usually a lot of the time in the UK - not this summer of course...)
They explain that when people see some cloud cover or a rain symbol they decide not to go out to somewhere expensive like a zoo - family tickets cost quite a lot. This is often a decision which is taken on the basis of a symbol on an app... which doesn't actually show that it will definitely rain at the zoo's location exactly when that person is visiting. The rain may not appear... it may last for just a few minutes... it may fall near the zoo but not actually at the zoo itself. Symbols placed on a weather map are indicative, and cover large areas.
