TDF: 2027 - coming back to the UK

The Tour de France - my favourite sporting event - has visited Britain before.

1974: A brief stay in Plymouth, Southern England, for a single circuit stage.

1994: Riders raced through the Channel Tunnel by train before contesting two stages (finishing in Brighton and Portsmouth) to mark the tunnel's opening - I don't remember this happening.

2007: A Grand Départ in London

2014: A Grand Départ in Yorkshire - some epic climbs in the Peak District.

The route of the 2027 Tour de France was revealed last week, and the race is returning to the UK. It will travel down the western side of Scotland and Northern England and into Wales. I hope to catch the race at some point, whether in the UK or in France.

Here's the route map of the race.
